...Then Rain
Last Edition Recap
How have you applied the last edition to your life?
Opening Prayer
Dear Lord, teach us to humble ourselves before You that Your blessings might flow like water from the rock. Amen.
Introduction
The world faces a water crisis. Experts predict the worst if we do not do something drastic, now! Dams sit empty, rivers running dry. People’s livelihoods are already in danger. Community prayer groups frantically organise, messages circulate: “Pray for Rain!” The desperation is palpable—without water, we die. But there’s something unsettling about our modern prayers. We approach God like an underpaid employee whose job is fulfilling our demands. We want rain without repentance, blessing without bowing. Consider Moses and Aaron at Meribah. The people rebelled, desperate for water. But before Moses could even ask God for help, he and Aaron fell facedown. They humbled themselves completely. Only then did God command the miracle—water flowing from solid rock in the desert. The formula isn’t complicated: first humility, then rain. We’ve reversed the order, demanding the provision whilst maintaining our pride. We want God to solve our drought whilst we remain spiritually parched, too proud to fall facedown before Him.

Final Thought
The drought isn’t just in our dams—it’s in our hearts. We circulate prayer requests for rain whilst our souls remain parched, too proud to fall facedown like Moses and Aaron. They understood what we’ve forgotten: you cannot demand from the throne whilst refusing to bow before it. God blessed their request before they could even ask because humility positioned them to receive. The same God who produced rivers from rock in the desert waits for us to assume the proper posture. Seek first His kingdom—not as a magic formula but as recognition of reality. He’s not our employee; He’s the Almighty. When we humble ourselves and place God first, we experience the powerful God who transforms deserts into gardens, rocks into fountains. The formula remains unchanged: humble yourself before the Lord and He will lift you up. First humility, then rain. God is bigger than any drought—physical or spiritual—but we must approach Him rightly.
