Redirection

Last Edition Recap
How have you applied the last edition to your life?
Opening Prayer
Loving God, we cannot see what You see, nor do we know what You know; therefore, it would be wise to listen to, and learn from, Your all-knowing wisdom. Help us to seek You and trust Your plan for us. Amen.
Introduction
Life teaches us we need others to make it through. Not one person can claim they’ve never needed advice or been inspired by someone else’s perspective. We’re surrounded by those with power to redirect our views and, in turn, redirect the course of our lives. But we can also be easily misdirected. We may believe something as true, only to discover we’ve been led down a path of pain and destruction. Take Ponzi schemes—innocent people cleverly persuaded to “invest” in non-existent enterprises, promised quick returns, only to discover they’ve been tricked and lost everything. Similarly, in our spiritual lives, we’re susceptible to misdirection—from the evil one, from the world, even from ourselves. We think we know the truth, have all the facts about what WE believe, yet find we’ve fallen victim to misdirection. The only way out is to be redirected into the right direction. This is what Jesus does. He is THE GREAT REDIRECTOR. Only He can turn our lives around and set us straight. Here’s a simple rule: Disobedience leads to misdirection. God’s grace provides redirection. Obedience to God’s grace is the right direction. The picture tells the story: Once a Catholic Church in Pilgrims Rest, South Africa, now a hotel bar. Misdirection made manifest.

Final Thought
Albert Barnes notes about Luke 16:8: “Shrewd – More prudent, cunning, and anxious about their particular business. They show more skill, study more plans, contrive more ways to provide for themselves, than the children of light do to promote the interests of religion.” Adam Clarke adds: “the master commended him, not for his motive, but for his astuteness; not for his fraud, but for his foresight.” If only Christians applied this shrewdness to the Body of Christ. The Gospel would be unstoppable. Churches becoming bars. Sanctuaries becoming shops. Mosques replacing churches. This isn’t just about buildings—it’s evidence of misdirection on a massive scale. When Christian communities are obedient and faithful to God, church buildings don’t get sold for the wrong reasons. The dishonest manager in Jesus’s parable was more passionate about securing his earthly future than many Christians are about securing eternal futures. He was willing to risk everything, work shrewdly, act decisively. Meanwhile, we can’t even commit to regular worship. Disobedience leads to misdirection—churches close. God’s grace provides redirection—revival happens. Obedience to God’s grace is the right direction—communities thrive. You cannot serve both God and money, both comfort and calling, both self and Saviour. Choose your master. Choose your direction.
