Eternal Life
Last Edition Recap
How have you applied the last edition to your life?
Opening Prayer
Dear God, death terrifies us, but You offer life eternal; teach us to live now in the reality of forever. Amen.
Introduction
Everyone searches for the fountain of youth. Science manipulates genetics chasing immortality. Hollywood sells stories of forever. Cosmetic companies promise younger skin, younger feeling, younger everything. But it’s not ageing that terrifies us—it’s death. The inevitable appointment no one wants to keep. Two jokes capture the uncomfortable truth: “According to latest statistics, the world’s death rate is holding at 100%.” “Latest research says the ratio of death is 1:1.” We laugh nervously because humour is how we handle horror. We grasp at anything promising escape—diets, exercises, procedures, philosophies. Yet Scripture speaks of something worse than physical death: the second death. Revelation lists those who face it—the fearful who denied Christ to save their lives, the unbelieving who resisted evidence, murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, liars. All heading to the lake of fire and brimstone. But Scripture isn’t the book of death; it’s the book of life, everlasting life through Jesus Christ. It tells us about death’s dreaded reality but proclaims more loudly the wonderful power of life in Christ. The fountain of youth isn’t a place or potion—it’s a Person. And He’s offering you a drink.

Final Thought
Death holds at 100%. The ratio remains 1:1. No fountain of youth changes these statistics. But there’s a second death—eternal separation from God in the lake of fire. The list of those who face it isn’t just murderers and sorcerers. It includes the fearful who deny Christ to preserve life, the unbelieving who resist evidence, all liars including those who tell partial truths to deceive. We all qualify for this second death. We need rescue, escape, a Saviour. Good news: there is one. His name is Jesus. Christianity builds on one foundation: Jesus rose from the dead. He died physically, then three days later conquered death, initiating eternal life for believers. Here’s what changes everything: eternal life doesn’t start when you die. It activates the moment you trust Jesus as Lord and Saviour. John Wesley wrote, “There is no time like the present to receive God’s forgiveness. The right time is now!” You’re not just avoiding death; you’re receiving life. Not extended life, not improved life—eternal life that starts now and never ends. The fountain of youth was never about preserving this body. It was about receiving new life entirely. Born again. The question isn’t whether you’ll die—100% will. It’s whether you’ll truly live.
