Opening Prayer
Lord, strengthen us to overcome every impossible odd through Your superhero power working in us. Amen.
Introduction
Films celebrate real-life heroes who face impossible odds—the trapped miners who survive, the athlete who walks again, the soldier who saves his unit. We immortalise these stories, desperately needing proof that humans can overcome. Yet we overlook history’s greatest overcomer. Jesus faced every weapon in evil’s arsenal and won. No mistakes, no fear, no pride, no weakness. Demons shuddered at His arrival. The Pharisees couldn’t outsmart Him. Death itself couldn’t hold Him. But here’s what stops us cold: this invincible hero died for His enemies. The superhero who could walk on water, control storms, and defeat death chose the cross for those who wanted Him dead. Despite facing betrayal, He loved. Despite being tortured, He forgave. Despite having all power, He surrendered. Despite our rebellion, He rescues. We search cinema for heroes whilst the true Superhero searches for us. He doesn’t wear a cape or hide behind a mask. He simply says, “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” Not might overcome. Not trying to overcome. Have overcome. Past tense. Victory secured. Despite everything.

Final Thought
Despite everything Jesus faced, He always won. No kryptonite weakened Him. No enemy outsmarted Him. No danger threatened Him. He controlled elements, walked on water, defeated death itself. Yet this unstoppable force chose vulnerability. The hero who needed no weapons, no technology, no mask, chose nails. Why? Because despite our sin against Him, He loves us. Despite our rebellion, He rescues. Despite our weakness, He strengthens. The twenty reasons Jesus surpasses every superhero boil down to one: He died to save His enemies and rose to make them family. You’re facing impossible odds? So did He—and won. You’re overwhelmed by circumstances? He overcame the world. You feel defeated? Through Him, you’re more than a conqueror. Not eventually. Not hopefully. Now. Present tense. The resurrection power that brought Jesus from the grave lives in you. Despite your doubts, despite your failures, despite your fears—in all these things, you are more than a conqueror through Him who loved you. God is faithful. Despite everything.
