Edition 32
Burning Bushes
Last Edition Recap
How have you applied the last edition to your life?
Opening Prayer
Gracious God, we so often miss what You’re telling us because we can be full of ourselves; teach us how we can hear Your voice more clearly. Amen.
Introduction
You’re lost and alone in the wilderness at night. No light of your own. In the distance, a campfire burns. Around it, people laugh, share stories, eat food. What would you do? Of course you’d approach—drawn to light, warmth, community. “Does God still speak today?” The question haunts modern faith. Some claim they’ve heard His audible voice. Others say He speaks quietly through the Holy Spirit. Some believe He’s said everything needed through Jesus and Scripture. Sceptics argue His silence proves His absence—surely an audible God would solve world problems. Then there are those who believe God speaks loudly through the actions, deeds, and work of His people. We want burning bushes—dramatic, undeniable, personal. Moses got one. God spoke directly, then commissioned him to become the burning bush himself, to GO into darkness bringing light and hope. Moses’s encounter wasn’t meant for him alone. It was meant to multiply.
A cold day. A shivering, starving girl on a street corner. A man gets angry at God: “Why do you allow this? Why don’t YOU do something?” God replies: “I have already done something about it. I made YOU. I sent YOU.” Maybe we’ve already had our burning bush experience in becoming Christians. Now the only thing left is to become those burning bushes for others.

Final Thought
“Why can’t God make it a little easier?” We ask for burning bushes whilst standing in a forest of them. We overcomplicate what’s simple. God appeared to Moses not for Moses alone but to commission him to become God’s voice to others. The burning bush wasn’t the endpoint—it was the starting point. Moses became the burning bush, bringing light into Israel’s darkness, hope into their despair. We’re in the business of loving and doing. CoffeeChatConnect, your church, your group—these are burning bushes revealing God’s voice in our lives. When we love and act, we create more burning bushes and God’s voice is heard. The shivering girl on the corner doesn’t need God’s audible voice from heaven. She needs God’s hands through yours, God’s love through your actions, God’s voice through your compassion. “I have already done something about it. I made YOU.” You are the light of the world. A town on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither can a life truly burning for God. The wilderness is full of lost people looking for light. They don’t need another theological debate about whether God speaks. They need burning bushes—people ablaze with love and action. Become and create the burning bushes of God. Let the world hear His voice through you.
